The Power of Prayer
Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The bridge Presbyterian Church believes in prayer and its power. Prayer is the way in which we reach out to the world and as we give voice to joys and concerns, all aspects of life are laid before the throne of God. Prayer is an act of confident hope and is the language of our faith. It is a power beyond our imagining.
We are asking friends and families and their friends and families to join us in prayer at 12 Noon, EST on February 12. Why? Because we believe that a community of believers, all praying the same prayer at the same time, beseeching God to hear and answer our prayer is very powerful.
We also ask that you share this event with your families, friends and churches. Ultimately, we want to have thousands of people talking with God at the same time — reiterating our trust and faith in him, and asking for his intervention.
Peace and Power Prayer
O God of Peace and Power,
Be active in our world!
We are bold to pray for change.
Where there is division, mistrust, and anger,
Inspire unity, hope, and kindness.
Lead and empower individuals, institutions, and nations to seek your will in all things, so that your true and lasting peace may transform our world and our lives.
Give us courage to break down the walls that divide us, to abandon the fear and falsehoods that alienate us from one another, and to recognize that we are all your children.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
